A-LAB MILANO AT GCFA ITALIA 2019

GCFA19.jpg

Roberta Bonazzi wears A-LAB MILANO for the Green Carpet Challenge. Alessandro Biasi designed the full length dress and the look is the result of his long-standing collaboration with Giulio Bonazzi, CEO and chairman of Aquafil, creator of ECONYL® regenerated nylon made from plastic waste. The waste plastic material is collected from all over the world through different programmes and initiatives and it is regenerated into usable yarn in Italy at the Aquafil plant, championing circularity through reutilising waste.

Veronika Mikos of Healthy Seas wears A-LAB MILANO for the Green Carpet Challenge. The cocktail dress was designed by Alessandro Biasi and is made entirely of Aquafil’s ECONYL® regenerated nylon made from plastic ocean and landfill waste. The waste plastic material is collected from all over the world through different programmes and initiatives, of which the Healthy Seas initiative is a wonderful example. The waste material is then sent to Aquafil where it is regenerated into ECONYL® yarn. Since Biasi’s first ECONYL® look at the GCFA Italia 2018, his relationship with the supplier has continued and this year he has also designed a dress for Roberta Bonazzi, wife of Aquafil chairman and CEO, Giulio Bonazzi, in ECONYL® of course.

TOKYO BAG

THE TOKYO BAG

TOKYO BAG SITO2.jpg

A-lab Milano presents, for the summer 2019, a perfectly integrated accessory within the collection, inspired by Japanese iconography reworked through the most contemporary and innovative aspects of the Tokyoita street style of the Harajuku district.

Thus the "Tokyo bag" was born: a pouch bag declined in the printed variants, where the tweel is coupled to the leather, and the total leather, distinguished by the iconic A highlighted in relief on the front. In this version, the lining is printed with the characteristic Daruma, a traditional Japanese fortune-telling icon.

There is also a shoulder bag variant with shoulder strap enriched by chains, that offers a more feminine and evening version of the Tokyo Bag.

A-lab Milano takes a further step forward in its research that combines futuristic aesthetics with tailoring and adds a new voice to its contemporary vocabulary: sustainability. Alwaays faithful to the Made in Italy codes and Italian "know how", A-lab Milano joins AQUAFIL, the Italian company led by Giulio Bonazzi, which produces synthetic yarns since 1969 and has developed ECONYL®, a new 100% recyclable sustainable thread.

For the 2018 Green Carpet Fashion Awards ceremony, Valentina Siragusa wore a special edition dress from the 2019 spring-summer collection, entirely made of ECONYL® yarn, chosen for its technical and highly contemporary appearance. The fabric cut has enhanced the skirt flowing fall and the asymmetrical silhouette and the dress is held on the body by only knots to not compromise the ECONYL® complete sustainability.

A-LAB MILANO SUMMER 18 EXHIBITION

A-lab Milano presented the 2018 Spring Summer collection by an exhibition held during Milan Fashion Week in 2017 September, inside a private eighteenth-century residence, in the prestigious setting of Via Vivaio, the Italian fashion capital heart.
